Mountain Railways in Ooty and the Nilgiris

Informally called as the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, this train ride through the Nilgiri Mountains near Ooty is one of the most memorable in the world. As a result, you’ll be transported to the Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu, where the Nilgiri Mountains, also known as the Blue Mountains, are located.

With their lush greenery, dreamy blue skies, and awe-inspiring beauty, these mountains look like they could have come straight from a painting. Mettupalayam, Wellington, Coonoor, Lovedale, and Ootacamund are all included in the ride’s 45-kilometer route that takes 5 hours to complete.

Throughout the voyage, you may expect to witness lush forests, tunnels, foggy landscapes, breathtaking gorges, and even a little sunshine and rain if the weather cooperates. It is a World Heritage Site because of how well-liked and admired the train is around the world.

Tourists flock to Kanyakumari, the southernmost town in India, to see the Laccadive Sea’s stunning scenery, as well as to participate in religious rituals.

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial, located on one of the two small rock islands surrounding the town that juts out into the Lakshadweep Sea, should not be missed if you find yourself in town for whatever reason.

From the mainland, you may take a ferry to the island and take in the stunning views of the Indian Ocean in the distance. There is a memorial to be found after you arrive.

Vivekananda is supposed to have achieved enlightenment on this island, and the island’s natural beauty also makes it a popular destination for tourists. You can get a tourist Indian visa for Namibia citizens by filling out an online form.

The Brahadeshwara Temple, Thanjavur

Sri Rajarajesvaram and Peruvudaiyar Kvil are two of the many names given to this Shiva temple in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur. It is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Tamil Nadu and one of the best examples of Dravidian architecture.

The temple was established during the rule of the Chola Dynasty and is one of their most lasting legacies. UNESCO World Heritage Site it boasts the tallest shrine or sanctum of any temple in South India and is full of towers, inscriptions, and sculptures from many Hindu traditions, all of which are surrounded by reinforced walls.

There are also Chola-period paintings on the walls, but unfortunately, over the years, many of these pieces have been stolen or destroyed. The temple’s elaborate and gorgeous architecture is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won’t want to miss.

Marudhamalai Hill Temple, Coimbatore

Marudhamalai Hill Temple, another well-known Tamil Nadu temple, is perched on a granite hill in the Western Ghats about 12 kilometers from Coimbatore.

As a temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, a Hindu war god who is also the eldest son of Shiva and Parvati, it was erected in the 12th century.

The Marudha Maram trees native to the hillock inspired the name, which translates to “hill” in Sanskrit. Sculptures of gods adorn the temple’s facade, making for a visually magnificent structure.

Other than its stunning architecture, the temple is well-known for its abundance of domestically cultivated Ayurvedic medicines.

Beaches at Mahabalipuram

Located just 58 kilometers from Chennai, this is one of the most popular beaches in Tamil Nadu and is therefore easily accessible. The Pallava-era rock sculptures, caverns, and coastal temples of Mahabalipuram, which overlooks the Bay of Bengal, make this beach a popular tourist destination.

In addition to its gorgeous scenery, golden white sand on the shore, and deep blue waters, the beach offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. Crocodile banks, art and sculpture schools, centers for extracting snake venom, and an annual dancing festival are all close by, as are other resorts where you can unwind and eat wonderful food.
