When iconic American brand Jeep made its re-entry into India, it launched the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee which didn’t see too many buyers, since these models were overpriced. However, after Jeep launched its baby for India, the Compass, showroom began buzzing with bookings; that’s what became the sales potential of the model.
The Compass has since, created a lot of hooplas and has found many buyers in India. FCA had recently launched a new edition, called the Night Eagle. Production of this model will be limited only to 250 units. The company has launched this particular model as it celebrates its third anniversary in India. The Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition will be sold in black and is based on the Longitude Plus variant. Prices start at ₹ 20.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Nip and tuck
On the outside, the Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition gets a blacked-out Jeep badging at the front and rear, black 18-inch alloy wheels, a gloss black roof and gloss black highlights on the grille, fog lamp bezels, and DRLs. It is sold in four colors: Exotica Red, Magnesio Grey, Brilliant Black, and Vocal White. The seven-slat grille looks bold, and with its crisp lines, the Compass Night Eagle edition is sure to lure buyers. It’s baby Grand Cherokee-like proportions make it a very attractive proposition in its segment.

The cabin of the Compass Night Eagle edition comes with gloss black accents and Techno leather seats. Features like reverse parking camera, engine start-stop button, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, cornering foglamps, power-folding ORVMs, four airbags, electronic parking brake, and ESC are offered.
Power for the course
The Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition is powered either by a 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 160bhp and 250Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission in the 4×2 configuration or a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine that makes 171bhp and 350Nm of torque, paired to either a 9-speed automatic with SelecTerrain 4×4 AWD system or a 6-speed manual gearbox in 4×2 guise.
Inside the Compass
The Compass comes with a very well built cabin; the upholstery and the dual-tone dashboard looks premium and the quality of materials used is top-notch. There are soft-touch materials around that give it an up-market feel. The contrast stitching on the gear-knob and steering wheel looks great too. The right spoke of the steering gets cruise control buttons, which is standard on this variant. The driver’s seats are electrically adjustable and are very comfortable and supportive. Even the rear seats don’t disappoint on the comfort front. Boot space at 438 liters is good.
